Tancredi Dolce&Gabbana e Donnafugata
has graced our wine list at Eliot&Vine.
Indulge in a 2021 vintage of Tancredi, an innovative blend from an era when native grapes reigned.
Tancredi is described as a prestigious red with a noble and revolutionary soul, unifying the native, Nero d’Avola, with the international, Cabernet Sauvignon.
With an intense ruby red colour, this wine stands out for its broad bouquet with fruity notes of plums and blueberries, presenting hints of spice and balsamic nuances of licorice, all complemented by sweet roasted notes such as vanilla and tobacco.
The name Tancredi recalls one of the protagonists in the Italian novel The Leopard. In the novel, Tancredi is the favourite nephew of the Prince of Salina, precisely because of his charm and ability to adapt to changes.

Dolce&Gabbana crafted the imagery of this “revolutionary” wine, paying homage precisely to The Leopard, and in particular to the contrast between tradition and modernity that Tancredi summarizes in itself. Gold, blue, and sinuous lines of Baroque inspiration celebrate the splendour of the aristocracy. Red, green, and geometric figures refer to the new revolutionary values that emerged in Sicily after the unification of Italy.
An unconditional love for Sicily unites Dolce&Gabbana and Donnafugata, which creatively has brought forth a strong Mediterranean personality, ambassadors of Sicilian colours, and a passion and attention to detail that both Made in Italy excellences have built their history on.
